Creation 2015

Mastering fire, drawing power from it and being galvanized by its energy, is at the origin of many mythologies as well as many dances. Choreographic research is not far removed from this, and keep playing with bodies to animate, maintain and share this element. That's why, when Fabrice Lambert discovered the film Into Eternity, he found in it material for a new alchemy. Michael Madsen's documentary describes the construction of the country's nuclear waste disposal center in Onkalo, Finland. It's a titanic, unthinkable project, based on the time it takes for radioactivity to disappear: 100,000 years.

For Fabrice Lambert, the sheer time scale of Onkalo makes it a mythology in the present. A mythology of sacred fire which has something in common with the story of Prometheus - a conquest at a given moment, followed by eternal torment. On stage, ten dancers draw a geometry in motion. Directing flows, probing gaps and provoking ruptures to experience this vertiginous experience of energy and duration. In an empty space sculpted by light, they are the masters of a ceremony where the perception of infinity leads us to grasp the present as the generative motor of a common and precious good.
